Overview
Rachel Stermer is a healthcare attorney with experience advising clients on matters concerning the Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, state self-referral laws, EKRA, and HIPAA. In addition, Rachel has experience drafting and reviewing employment agreements between employers and providers, and advising providers on applicable state and federal rules related to their practice.
Prior to admission into the Ohio Bar, Rachel was a law clerk in BMD's Summer Associate Program for one and a half years.
Before joining BMD, as an undergrad, Rachel was a compliance intern at a mid-sized healthcare system spanning New York and Pennsylvania. During her time in law school, she was a legal intern at Summit County Public Health and also completed an externship program at the Western Reserve Hospital compliance department.
Rachel was heavily involved at the University of Akron School of Law where she was a legal writing fellow for first year law students, the Vice President of the Health Law Society, and a member of both the Law Association for Women and Animal Legal Defense Fund. She also won three CALI Excellence for the Future Awards during her time at Akron in Health Law, Legal Research and Writing, and Food & Drug Law.
In her free time, Rachel enjoys hiking the many beautiful trails in Northeast Ohio with her two dogs, Rizz and Fiona, reading, and watching sports.
