#MyLegalAidStory: Scott Heasley

As a reporter at a local newspaper, Scott Heasley first heard of Legal Aid when he wrote a profile of its services nearly 20 years ago. “I have been a huge fan ever since,” he said.  

Scott was impressed with the support and encouragement that Legal Aid provided to vulnerable men, women, and children.  

After deciding to leave his career in journalism, Scott earned his JD from Cleveland Marshall College of Law. He started volunteering at Legal Aid Brief Advice Clinics as a law student. Now as a Partner at Brennan, Manna & Diamond, LLC, Scott continues to volunteer because he believes that the clients deserve support and protection when they face legal issues and concerns. 

“I love helping pro bono clients negotiate settlements where they can stay in their homes while they find a new place to stay and then we file motions to seal their eviction records,” he said.

Physician Non-Competition Agreements 2022

July 7, 2022Contract provisions with restrictions on physicians practicing in the same area should they change employment have been around for decades. In Ohio, courts continue to state that while provisions are generally disfavored, non-competition provisions remain enforceable. Specifically, as to physician non-competes, the courts note that such agreements are further scrutinized regarding the adverse effect on the public interest to keep healthcare professionals in a community. Courts have continued in more cases than not to enforce restrictive covenants against physicians.News Article
