BMD Attorney Marlon Primes Appointed to the Georgetown Law Board of Visitors

(CLEVELAND, OH) — BRENNAN, MANNA & DIAMOND attorney and former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, Marlon Primes, has been appointed to the Georgetown Law Board of Visitors.  

A graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, Mr. Primes serves as a Co-Chair of BMD’s Business and Tort Litigation Practice and represents companies across the U.S. in high-stakes litigation. As an Assistant U.S. Attorney, he handled a wide variety of complex civil litigation in state, federal, and appellate courts, including jury trials and appellate actions. He has received the highest awards for his legal work and acumen. Mr. Primes is also recognized for his civic and community service.

The Board of Visitors of Georgetown University Law Center consists of members drawn from the public and private sectors. They have been chosen from a geographically and professionally diverse cross-section of alumni, parents, and friends selected for their ability to provide advice to the Dean on how to strengthen teaching, scholarship, and service at the Law Center. As a member of the Georgetown Law Board of Visitors, Mr. Primes provides counsel to help strengthen and improve academic goals of the Law Center, address concerns of stakeholders, and increase and strengthen resources.

Dean Treanor commented on the appointment of Mr. Primes by stating, “I rely on the members of the Board of Visitors for their guidance and support with the priorities that keep Georgetown University Law Center an extraordinary law school. I am pleased that Marlon agreed to join this important leadership group, and I look forward to engaging him in the many issues facing not just Georgetown, but the legal education field overall.”

Marlon Primes commented on his appointment by stating, “I am honored to serve on the Georgetown Law Board of Visitors with the top lawyers, judges, and law professors in the country. During my tenure as a student at Georgetown Law, I was constantly reminded about the importance of public service and giving back to the community. I look forward to having the opportunity to continue to play it forward by working to help the entire Georgetown community continue to be innovators and servant leaders throughout the entire legal profession.”

Mr. Primes is past President of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association ("CMBA"). He was the first government attorney and first African American attorney to serve as president of the CMBA, which is the largest metropolitan bar association in Ohio. Mr. Primes served as President of the Cleveland chapter of the American Inns of Court (William K. Thomas Inn), and as President of the Norman S. Minor Bar Association. He also served as Chairman of the Litigation Section of the Ohio State Bar Association and as national Vice President of the National Bar Association, which is the oldest and largest association of African American lawyers and judges in the United States. He is an active member of the Georgetown Club of Cleveland.
